Elon Musk opposes censorship on X: Potential loss of ‘all revenue’ in Brazil looms

Elon Musk has recently become active on X (formerly Twitter), taking a strong stance against specific court orders in Brazil. Musk claims that there is an “aggressive censorship” taking place, which could potentially lead to X Corporation losing all revenue in Brazil.

On April 6, X Corp’s Global Government Affairs account notified users that court decisions had forced the platform to block certain Brazilian accounts. The company explained that it did not have further information regarding the reasons or which laws were violated.

Additionally, X revealed that it was prohibited from disclosing who issued the order and which accounts were affected. In response, Global Government Affairs stated that they challenged the orders because they believed they were not in accordance with Brazilian laws and the Constitution. This action was taken in support of free speech and transparency.

Elon Musk has taken a notable interest in this matter and has been actively posting about it, in addition to the official X Corporation communication. In a comment, Musk discussed the regulatory and financial consequences of his actions, stating, “We are lifting all restrictions. This judge has imposed significant fines, threatened to arrest our employees, and cut off access to in Brazil. As a result, we will likely lose all revenue in Brazil and have to close our office there. But principles matter more than profit.”

Previously, Musk criticized the “aggressive censorship” in Brazil, which he believed violated the law and the will of the Brazilian people. He shared a post that referenced a comprehensive source known as Twitter Files – Brazil, which included extensive evidence.

Twitter Files – Brazil details a widespread crackdown on free speech in Brazil, led by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The thread includes internal emails from the former Twitter team, highlighting censorship attempts and threats. It also mentions instances of individuals being imprisoned without trial for their social media posts. The involvement of Judge Alexandre de Moraes, who is a member of both the Supreme Court and the Superior Electoral Court, raises concerns about potential attacks on the democratic process.

The attention is now focused on Brazil, Elon Musk, X Corp, and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. X Corporation may face financial losses and operational restrictions in the country as the legal battle intensifies.

In conclusion, it is crucial for people to seek a comprehensive understanding of the facts and evidence surrounding what appears to be aggressive censorship and political influence impacting the people of Brazil and companies worldwide.
